Ingenuity:
Social Justice and the Arts Institute
Client: Ingenuity - A Chicago-based non-profit Arts Advocacy organization
Role: Institute Planning and Implementation
Date: December 2015
Description: I worked with Ingenuity's Director of Partnerships and Professional Learning to plan and implement a day long workshop on the intersection of the arts and social justice. The institute was geared towards arts organizations and staff, but included teaching artists and teachers too. I mapped out the structure of the day, contacted and secured a keynote speaker and session facilitators, and served as the moderator for the day. Key to our planning was to create a space that critically examined how participants made social justice a meaningful part of their organization's mission and spent time reflecting on the work and their own internal biases and struggles to engage in social justice practice.
